Shrimp & Prawn Aquaculture Coming soon 2028
At Hale Malu Farms, we are exploring aquaculture as part of our larger vision for integrated food production and future-ready agriculture in Hawai‘i. Our interest in shrimp and prawn production comes from the belief that strong local agriculture should include not only land-based farming, but also carefully designed aquatic systems that can support local food supply, diversification, and long-term resilience.
Pullets and chicks
Shrimp and prawns represent an exciting direction for Hale Malu because they combine food production, farm innovation, and the potential for efficient use of space and water. As we continue developing the Hale Malu AgroPort concept, aquaculture is an area we see as a natural fit alongside poultry, hatchery systems, feed supply, and other integrated agricultural operations.
Our long-term goal is to develop shrimp and prawn systems that are practical, scalable, and aligned with the broader Hale Malu vision — systems that support local production while reflecting thoughtful design, careful management, and a commitment to building agriculture that lasts.
For us, aquaculture is not separate from farming. It is part of a connected future where land, water, infrastructure, and food systems work together in a more complete and resilient way.
